How does J&T Cargo adapt to the challenge of delivering heavy packages?

16:19:59 09-06-2026

Heavy cargo transportation requires greater optimization in the logistics industry.

Nowadays, large cities have high population density, heavy traffic congestion, and many narrow alleyways, making the transportation of heavy and bulky goods more difficult than in suburban areas. Understanding the terrain and maintaining operational flexibility are two key factors that help improve delivery performance. Therefore, while a shipper may be able to deliver 100–200 small orders per day, the number of bulky-item deliveries typically drops to around 50–60 due to their larger size and weight. In addition, post offices must balance goods volume, workforce allocation, and delivery routes to avoid overloading their operations. One of the operating principles applied by J&T post offices is not to utilize a shipper's maximum delivery capacity. On average, a shipper can deliver about 50 heavy-item orders per day, but the company usually assigns only around 40 orders. This buffer allows shippers to handle additional orders during peak periods or major promotional campaigns. If the assigned workload is close to maximum capacity, any sudden increase in order volume can easily lead to overload. Therefore, contingency capacity should always be maintained. Furthermore, J&T post offices use vans as "mobile warehouses." Instead of requiring shippers to return to the warehouse after each delivery, vans are dispatched to collection points located near delivery areas. Although the number of heavy-item deliveries is lower than that of small-package deliveries, shippers' income is still maintained because shipping fees are calculated based on the volume and size of the goods. Heavy-item delivery operations cannot be managed in the same way as small-package deliveries. To operate effectively, logistics providers must understand local conditions, optimize route planning, maintain reserve personnel, and implement flexible transportation and distribution plans.
